HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The IU Kokomo women's basketball team fell 56-40 Saturday night on the road at Huntington University.
IU Kokomo took a 2-0 lead on a
Kaylie Abriani bucket from the paint, but the Cougars struggled to score for the remainder of the first half. Over the course of the final eight minutes of the first quarter, Huntington outscored IUK 17-4 for an 11-point lead after a quarter.
The Cougars scored just six second quarter points, but held the Foresters to nine. Huntington led 26-12 at halftime.
Huntington continued their strong play in the third quarter and led 43-23 heading into the fourth quarter.
IU Kokomo's best quarter offensively came in the fourth quarter, as the Cougars outscored the Foresters 17-13.
Shamaria Walker scored all seven of her points in the fourth, while
Kristen Ridner had six points in the frame.
Kristen Ridner led the Cougars in scoring Saturday evening with ten points. Ridner also pulled down six rebounds.
Anna Kiser grabbed a game-high eight rebounds to go along with four points.
Shamaria Walker and
Anya Friend each tallied seven points.
The Cougars will be back-in-action Tuesday night as they will play at Bethel University (Ind.). Tip-off is set for 6:00 P.M.
