BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Indiana University Kokomo women's basketball team fell on the road Friday night to Olivet Nazarene 91-67. After a tightly-contested first quarter, the Tigers of Olivet Nazarene managed to pull away from the Cougars.
IU Kokomo jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead in what proved to be a high-scoring opening quarter. Olivet Nazarene battled back, as they utilized a 12-0 run to take a 19-12 lead late in the first quarter. Trailing 23-16, the Cougars finished the quarter on a 6-0 run to trail by just a point heading into the second quarter.
The Tigers scored the first eight points of the second quarter to extend their lead back to nine at 31-22. Olivet continued their strong play for the remainder of the half and took a 55-32 lead into halftime.
Olivet Nazarene outscored IU Kokomo by 13 in the third quarter to lead by 36 after three quarters, but the Cougars managed to outscore the Tigers 23-11 in the final quarter.
Anya Friend had 11 fourth-quarter points on 3-4 shooting from three-point range but Olivet Nazarene went on to beat IU Kokomo 91-67.
Three Cougars scored in double-figures Friday, led by
Anya Friend with 15.
Ella Wolfe had 14 points while
Anna Kiser was a rebound shy of a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.
The Cougars will return to action Tuesday, December 20th, as they travel to Winona Lake to take on the Grace Lancers. Tip-off is set for 12:00 P.M.
