Baseball Falls in Regular Season Finale

KOKOMO, Ind. – In a back-and-forth affair at Kokomo Municipal Stadium, the Indiana University Kokomo baseball team came out on the wrong end in the regular season finale, falling 7-5 to Point Park. The loss secured a third-place River States Conference finish for the Cougars, just a spot behind the Pioneers. 
 
IU Kokomo ends the regular season with a 26-20 overall record and a 16-7 conference mark. 
 
Key Moments
  • A three-run homer from the Pioneers in the first inning gave Point Park the early lead. 
  • IU Kokomo starter Ben Harris settled in after the first inning, retiring nine of his next 10 hitters. 
  • The Cougars evened things at three in the bottom of the third after Cody Bible scored on a wild pitch for IUK's first run of the game. Dylan Steele singled to centerfield to score Jared Heard and Pat Mills. 
  • A solo homerun for the Pioneers put them back in front by a run in the fifth frame. 
  • The Cougars manufactured a run in the sixth after Jack Leverenz reached on a single and later scored on a Mills fielder's choice, tying the game once again. 
  • Each team scored a run in their half of the seventh, making it 5-5 with two innings to play. 
  • The Pioneers delivered the last punch in the top of the ninth as they scored two runs to regain the lead. 
Pitching
  • Harris tossed four innings, allowing four runs on five hits, earning a no decision. 
  • JT Holton allowed just one hit in 2.1 innings of work. 
  • Ethan Leslie took the loss, throwing two innings, allowing two runs on three hits.
