NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The Cougar men's basketball team fell to IU Southeast by a score of 89-75 on Saturday.
Southeast jumped out to an early 6-2 lead almost three minutes in, but a
Zach Rinehart jump shot and a
Hunter White dunk quickly tied the game at 6. A pair of three-pointers from IU Southeast and a handful of layups from Cougars
Zach Rinehart and
Darian Porch put them at another tie, 12-12.
Numerous lead changes and seven different tie scores filled out the rest of the first half, and the Cougars would take a 41-46 deficit into halftime.
The Grenadiers started the second half strong, increasing their lead to ten by the time the first five minutes of the half had passed. The Cougars struggled to keep up offensively with IU Southeast for the rest of the game, as every shot seemed to be answered by two more from the Grenadiers. The Cougars would ultimately fall by a score of 89-75.
IU Kokomo's loss was punctuated by their trouble with free throws, as they would go just 13-23 from the foul line.
Offensive leaders for the Cougars included
Hunter White with 14 points,
Noah Harris with 11 points, and
Julien Hunter with 10 points.
The Cougars look on to their next game at Oakland City University on Tuesday, before closing their season at home on Saturday, hosting Brescia University.
