KOKOMO, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo women's basketball team opened its season Tuesday night with a tough challenge, hosting the 19th-ranked University of St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Saints and falling 80–46.

THE RUNDOWN 

• IU Kokomo struggled to find its rhythm early, managing just 16 points in the first half while allowing 20 points in each of the opening two quarters to fall behind 40–16 at the break.
• The Cougars' best stretch came in the third quarter, where they outscored USF 13–12, showing renewed energy and improvement coming out of the halftime break.
• The 19th-ranked Fighting Saints regained their offensive rhythm in the fourth quarter, recording their highest scoring period of the night to seal the victory over IU Kokomo.

LEADING THE CHARGE

• Despite struggling from the field, IU Kokomo found success at the free-throw line, converting 20 of 24 attempts on the night.
• Cameryn Rector led the Cougars with nine points, going a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.
• Hannah Hodgen added eight points and eight rebounds in the effort.
• Both Moriah Crawford and Mia Catey contributed seven rebounds apiece.
