DEARBORN, Mich. - The Indiana University Kokomo men's basketball team kicked off their season on the road Saturday, falling in a high-scoring contest at Michigan-Dearborn, 92-83.

THE RUNDOWN
- Ty Wills scored on IU Kokomo's opening possession to give the Cougars an early 2-0 lead, but Michigan-Dearborn quickly found their rhythm, jumping out to a 15-6 advantage.
- IU Kokomo fought back to tie the game several times, as the rest of the first half turned into a tightly contested, back-and-forth battle, with the Wolverines holding a slim 44-43 lead at halftime.
- Wills scored to start the second half just as he did the first, giving IU Kokomo the lead, but the Cougars and Wolverines remained locked in a fierce battle.
- With IU Kokomo ahead 70-67 at 6:46, Michigan-Dearborn responded with a seven-point streak, extending their lead to 10 with 5:21 remaining.
- A Patric Matson three-pointer brought the Cougars within five, and a deep shot from Moses Haynes cut the deficit to four, but that would be as close as IU Kokomo would get, ultimately falling 92-83 on the road.
LEADING THE CHARGE
- Three Cougars reached double figures, highlighted by freshman guard Alonzo Clawson-Smith, who recorded 17 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds despite the loss.
- Joseph Annan Jr. led IU Kokomo with 19 points while also collecting five boards and four assists. Ty Wills was the final double-digit scorer with 12.
