KOKOMO, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo women's basketball team dropped a 84-70 decision at home Saturday to Lourdes (Ohio), struggling to contain the visiting team's dynamic guard duo. The Cougars will have 11 days off before returning to action at Defiance's Purple and Gold Tournament.

THE RUNDOWN
- IU Kokomo fell behind early as Lourdes' Kaylona Butler hit back-to-back three-pointers to start the game. Butler and fellow guard Emma Pedroza combined for 49 of the Gray Wolves' 84 points.
- The Cougars cut the first-quarter deficit to 8-7, but Lourdes still held a 16-10 lead after the opening period.
- The Gray Wolves stretched their lead to as many as 13 in the second quarter, controlling play throughout and taking a 41-29 advantage into halftime.
- IU Kokomo outscored Lourdes by two points in the third quarter but couldn't cut the deficit to single digits.
- A Moriah Crawford layup early in the fourth quarter brought the Cougars within eight, but Lourdes responded by extending the lead to as many as 18, cruising to an 84-70 win.
LEADING THE CHARGE
- Sophomore guard Mackenzie York paced IU Kokomo offensively, scoring a career-high 17 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting from the field.
- Mia Catey contributed 13 points on 6-of-13 shooting, while fellow senior Moriah Crawford added 12 points and led the team with eight rebounds.
