GREENTOWN, Ind. - The IU Kokomo Women's Tennis team continued their strong start to the spring season Wednesday night in Greentown, beating Saint Francis (Ind.) 5-2 for the program's third-consecutive win to open the spring season.

Due to only having five available players, the Cougars of Saint Francis were forced to forfeit at #3 doubles and #6 singles, meaning IU Kokomo needed to win just one of the two doubles courts to take the doubles point and essentially already lead 1-0 with the win at #6 singles.

Doubles Courts:
IU Kokomo's #2 doubles pairing of Chloe Schmidt/Sophia Davidson cruised to a 6-0 win at #2 doubles, giving the host Cougars the doubles-point as #1 doubles remained on court. 

Ava Allen/Reiley Hiser emerged victorious in a tiebreaker at #1 doubles, winning 7-6 (2) over Saint Francis's Ellen Reidy/Lauren Korte to sweep the doubles courts.

Singles Courts: 
Graciella Solis got things rolling for the host Cougars with a 6-3, 6-3 win at #5 singles, as she dictated play from start to finish. Solis's win gave IU Kokomo a 3-0 lead, with the remaining four singles matches on court next.

The #3 singles match between IUK's Chloe Schmidt and USF's Victoria Rodenbeck was the next match to wrap up, with Schmidt clinching the match win for IU Kokomo thanks to a 6-4, 6-2 victory.

Saint Francis's lone two points of the match came at #1 and #2 singles, as Reidy out-dueled Allen in a grueling and high-level two-set match at #1 singles while Korte was victorious over IUK's Kennedy Perrin at #2 singles.

With the match in hand and the score sitting at 4-2, IU Kokomo freshman Mia Federspill earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory at #4 singles to close out a 5-2 win for the Cougars of IUK.

IU Kokomo will return to action next Wednesday at home, as they will host NCAA Division III foe Anderson University (Ind.) for an 8:00 PM first-serve inside the Howard County Indoor Tennis Center.
