GREENTOWN, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo Women's Tennis team earned their second-consecutive River States Conference victory Tuesday afternoon inside the Howard County Indoor Tennis Center, beating IU East 5-2.
Doubles Play:
- With IU East only rostering five available players for Tuesday's match, the Cougars won at #3 doubles by forfeit, needing to win one of the two matches on court to clinch the doubles point.
- The #2 doubles duo of Chloe Schmidt/Sophia Davidson cruised to a 6-1 victory to take the doubles point and a 1-0 lead, while the #1 doubles pairing of Reiley Hiser/Ava Allen earned a hard-fought 6-4 win to complete a sweep of the doubles matches.
Singles Play:
- Graciella Solis had a forfeit victory due to a lack of players at #6 singles, making it a 2-0 lead before singles play even began.
- IU East's lone two points of the match came at #4 and #5 singles, while IU Kokomo's Reiley Hiser won 6-1, 6-4 at #2 singles to make it a 3-2 Cougar lead.
- The final two matches were the closest of the night, as both went to a second-set tiebreaker with IU Kokomo coming out on top.
- Ava Allen won 6-0, 7-6 (2) at #1 singles while Chloe Schmidt won 6-4, 7-6 (5) at #3 singles, giving the Cougars a 5-2 victory over the rival Red Wolves.
