OAKLAND CITY, Ind. –  The winning streak continues for the IU Kokomo men's basketball team as they took down Oakland City for their 12th straight victory. The Cougars won 64-49 to complete the season sweep of the Mighty Oaks. IU Kokomo's record improves to 24-3 and 14-1 in River States Conference action. 
 
Desean Hampton finished with a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling in 16 rebounds. Tayson Parker joined Hampton in double figures with 11. The Cougars held Oakland City to just 29 percent shooting on the night while shooting at a 43 percent clip. 
 
IU Kokomo dominated the paint, scoring 46 of their 64 points from close range. 
 
The first seven minutes of the game featured three 6-0 runs. Darian Porch started the scoring for the Cougars and Hampton followed up with two straight buckets to give IU Kokomo the early 6-0 lead. The Mighty Oaks responded with a 6-0 run of their own for the game's first tie. The Cougars broke the tie with another 6-0 run to take a 12-6 lead over the Mighty Oaks. 
 
Tayson Parker gave IU Kokomo its first double figure lead of the game after he knocked down a jumper, making it 26-15 with 6:43 to play in the opening half. The Cougars would take a 35-21 lead at halftime. 
 
All nine Cougars who played in the first half had at least two points. Hampton and Parker led the way with seven apiece while Zach Rinehart added six. Hampton led all players with eight boards in the first 20 minutes.
 
IU Kokomo scored the first six points of the second half to extend its lead to 20 points, but the Mighty Oaks answered with a 10-0 run to cut their deficit in half. 
 
Parker sparked a 7-0 IU Kokomo run that was capped off by a layup from Porch, putting the Cougars ahead 50-33. The Cougars kept their foot on the gas for the remainder of their game en route to their fifth consecutive victory over the Mighty Oaks. 
 
The Cougars will hit the road again this weekend as they travel to Midway University on Saturday. The Cougars and Eagles will take the court at 3:00 p.m.
