KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo men's and women's outdoor track and field teams have been competing in various "Last Chance Meets" over the past two weeks, with the hopes of more student-athletes punching their ticket to Outdoor Nationals by hitting either an "A" or "B" standard.

Kokomo's own Julian Wallace was successful in clinching his berth, as he hit the NAIA "B" Standard and set the school record in the 400 Hurdles with a time of 54.07. 

Kale Kottkamp narrowly missed the NAIA B Standard by .2 cm in the Javelin Throw with a toss of 55.98m but at least broke the school record. 

Two Cougs who have already qualified turned in "A" standard efforts yet again. Sydney Duncan threw 13.52m in the Shot Put, good enough for another NAIA "A" Standard effort, along with a throw 45.58m in the Hammer Throw.  Emma Byrum threw 40.60m in the javelin, good enough for another NAIA "A" Standard.

Steven Case set the school record in the 800m with a time of 1:54.38, while Seth Ireland had a strong showing in the Shot Put with a toss of 14.11m. 

Brayden Voght ran the 400m in a time of 51.65, and Leslie Sprankles ran her best time of the year in the 800m, posting a 2:23.56.

Kale Kottkamp once again attempted to qualify in the Javelin, falling short with a mark of 54.65m.

Outdoor Nationals qualifier Hannah Wells ran an 11:39.18 in the 3000m Steeplechase, while teammate Faith Rock threw 37.31m in the discus. 

Steven Case ran the 800m in a time of 2:00,68, while fifth-year senior Bryce Jennings completed his career at IUK by running a 1500m time of 4:16.25. 

Kale Kottkamp completed his career at IUK with a toss of 52.41m in the Javelin Throw. Seth Ireland threw a personal best 15.19m in the shot put to close his season.

The IU Kokomo men's and women's outdoor track and field teams are gearing up for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, May 22-24, as seven Cougars have qualified.
