Broyles Earns Fourth AVCA All-American Honor; Niekamp Named Honorable Mention All-American

LEXINGTON, Ky. - IU Kokomo volleyball student-athletes Lexi Broyles and Mia Niekamp were honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Tuesday, as Broyles added another prestigious accolade to her already remarkable career while Niekamp earned the first national recognition of her career.

The AVCA All-America teams and award winners are chosen by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee. The 2025 class includes 42 student-athletes, with 14 selected to each of the three teams, along with an additional 55 student-athletes earning Honorable Mention honors.

Lexi Broyles, a DeMotte, Indiana native and Kankakee Valley High School alum, has been named an AVCA Third Team All-American, becoming a four-time AVCA All-American in addition to earning four-time NAIA All-American honors earlier this week. Broyles has been selected to the Third Team by both the AVCA and NAIA in each of her four collegiate seasons, cementing her place as one of the most storied athletes in IU Kokomo Athletics history.

The senior, Broyles, was named the River States Conference Attacker of the Year and earned First-Team honors from both the RSC and AVCA Midsouth Region, in addition to her pair of All-American honors. She also paced IU Kokomo and the conference with a .376 hitting percentage, totaling 343 kills and a team-best 111 blocks as the Cougars secured a third straight top-16 national finish in Sioux City.

One of the most efficient attackers in program history, Broyles graduates as IU Kokomo's all-time leader in career hitting percentage while ranking second in career kills (1,369), block assists (364), and total blocks (447).

Mia Niekamp, a native of St. Henry, Ohio and a St. Henry High School alum, made a remarkable return in 2025 after missing nearly all of last season. She earned First-Team All-RSC honors for the first time in her career, leading the IU Kokomo attack with 399 kills (3.09 k/s), good for second in the conference, while adding 51 blocks. Niekamp played a key role in guiding the Cougars to their fourth-straight 30-win season and a final NAIA national ranking of No. 12.
