RICHMOND, Ind. - & CEDARVILLE, Ohio. - Led by sophomore thrower
Sydney Duncan, the IU Kokomo Women's Outdoor Track & Field team competed Saturday at Cedarville University's Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open.
Senior racewalker
Maddie Dotlich, a multi-time National Championships Qualifier, competed Friday in the IU East Racewalking Event. Dotlich finished third with a new school record and NAIA "B" standard time of 29:24.40, good for ninth in the NAIA at the moment.
Reigning NAIA Women's Indoor Shot Put National Champion
Sydney Duncan dominated the competition in Shot Put Saturday at Cedarville, beating out 57 competitors with an "A" standard mark of 16.60 meters to win by nearly two meters. Her mark is currently #1 in the NAIA by 2.51 meters and good for #1 all-time in school history.
Duncan did not stop there, as she also turned in a strong performance in Discus, finishing third of 47 with a mark of 43.42 meters.
Paige Brooks turned in a strong performance Saturday in the Long Jump, finishing 18th of 38 with a mark of 5.03 meters, good for second all-time in program history.
Veteran distance runner
Hannah Wells finished 16th of 69 in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:54.32, good for third fastest in school history.
Freshman thrower
Jada Henson turned in a pair of solid showings in Discus and Hammer Throw, placing her fourth and fifth all-time in the program's record books in her respective events. Henson finished 18th of 46 in Discus with a mark of 35.56 meters before turning in a throw of 22.60 meters in Hammer.
The Cougars are set for a busy weekend, as they will compete Friday and Saturday in Allendale, Michigan, as part of Grand Valley State's Early Meet.
