RIO GRANDE, Ohio. - Led by 2025 River States Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year
Sydney Duncan, the IU Kokomo Women's Outdoor Track & Field team brought home a third-place finish at this weekend's RSC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The Cougars totaled 128.50 points to finish third behind Team Champion Rio Grande and second-place Brescia, while finishing 14 points clear of fourth-place IU East.
Sophomore phenom
Sydney Duncan won three separate field events between Friday and Saturday's competition, earning individual conference championships in Shot Put, Discus, and Hammer Throw.
Duncan, the 2025 NAIA Women's Indoor Shot Put National Champion, opened her weekend Friday with a winning toss of 49.96 meters in Hammer Throw to win by 2.76 meters. She picked up Saturday where she left off a day prior, taking the Discus title with a mark 45.41 meters (won by six meters) before taking the Shot Put crown with a toss of 15.48 meters (winning by 3.57 meters).
Jada Henson and
Faith Rock followed Duncan to make it an all IUK podium in Shot Put, while Rock also finished second in Discus and Henson finished fourth.
Gracie Conklin-Davis brought home a fourth-place finish in Hammer Throw, narrowly missing the podium.
Senior distance runner
Hannah Wells was victorious in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase, winning by 19 seconds with a time of 11:45.67. Wells followed that up with a third-place finish in the 1500 Meter Run Saturday, crossing the line in a time of 5:05.79.
Another pair of distance runners were successful in two separate events, as
Leslie Sprankles finished third in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:21.32 and
Isabelle Altic finished fifth in the 5,000 Meter Run with a time of 19:25.29.
Senior
Maddie Dotlich earned six points for the team with a third-place finish in the 5,000 Meter Racewalk, crossing the finish line in a time of 30:13.88. Sophomore
Paige Brooks finished fourth in Long Jump with a jump of 5.06 meters, 0.17 meters back of the winner.
A trio of IU Kokomo relay teams found success at Rio Grande over the weekend, as both the 4x800 meter and 4x100 meter relay teams finished fourth, with the 4x400 meter relay team finishing fifth.

The Cougars will return to action at IU for the Billy Hayes Invitational Friday, May 9th, giving the student-athletes one more chance to qualify for the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships held May 21-23 at nearby Indiana Wesleyan University.
