Cougars Roll Past Kentucky Christian 82–54 for Second Straight Conference Victory

KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo women's basketball team earned its second consecutive win Saturday afternoon, routing Kentucky Christian 82–54 in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

THE RUNDOWN 
  • IU Kokomo controlled much of Saturday's contest with Kentucky Christian, pouring in a season-high 82 points on 45% shooting in the win.
  • The Cougars opened the contest by scoring the first six points before Kentucky Christian got on the board, though the Knights battled back to tie the game at 10 with five minutes remaining in the first quarter. IU Kokomo responded emphatically, outscoring Kentucky Christian 17–3 over the final five minutes to take a 14-point lead after one.
  • The Knights trimmed the deficit to eight in the second quarter amid a five-minute scoring drought from the Cougars, but a jumper from Cameryn Rector with 30 seconds remaining sent IU Kokomo into halftime with a 37–27 lead.
  • Second-year head coach Lisa Pflueger's team defense was on full display early in the third quarter, as the Cougars held the Knights scoreless until the 6:13 mark. IU Kokomo's lead stretched to as many as 26 points before settling at 59–40 heading into the fourth quarter.
  • IU Kokomo stretched its lead past the 20-point mark in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter and never let it fall below that, comfortably closing out a second-straight conference win, 82–54.

LEADING THE CHARGE
  • Cameryn Rector led IU Kokomo with a strong performance, scoring a game-high 19 points while adding six rebounds and four steals.
  • Mackenzie York followed Rector's lead Saturday, finishing with 14 points, six assists, and five rebounds.
  • Millie Scorsone reached double figures in just nine minutes of action, scoring 10 points and pulling down three rebounds.
  • Mia Catey finished with eight points and six rebounds, shooting an efficient 4-of-7 from the field.
