ALLENDALE, Mich. - The IU Kokomo men's indoor track and field team, led by junior thrower
Gabriel Wedmore, competed as a full roster Saturday at Grand Valley State's Bob Eubanks Open for the first time this season.
Madison-Grant product and Summitville, Indiana's own Gabe Wedmore punched his ticket to the 2025 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships with a strong performance in the Shot Put.
Wedmore finished third of nine in the Invite Only Shot Put with a "B" standard mark of 15.99 meters, but did not stop there. Competing in the Open Weight Throw, Gabe finished third of 32 competitors with a mark of 16.08 meters and is now ranked number one in the River States Conference in both Shot Put and Weight Throw.
Competing in the Open Shot Put for IU Kokomo was
Isaac Ireland,
Jacob Sayger, and
Dylan Duncan. Ireland led the Cougars with fifth-place finish, while Sayger and Duncan followed in 12th and 22nd.
Freshman student-athlete
Tyree Cuffle made his mark on the weekend in Michigan, finishing 5th in the Triple Jump while managing to set a new freshman record with a mark of 11.89 meters.
Senior sprinter
Tanner Gibson turned in a strong performance Saturday, as he finished 12th of 66 entries in the 60 meter dash. Gibson also finished 14th in the Long Jump.
Isaiah Wittenberg and
Ayden Potts each competed in the 600 meter, with Wittenberg finishing 23rd in a time of 1:27.06 and Potts crossing the line 29th in a time of 1:30.88.

The Cougars will return to action next Friday, January 24th, as they will compete in Olivet Nazarene's Invitational.
