GREENTOWN, Ind. - The IU Kokomo Women's Tennis team made it four-consecutive wins to open the spring season, earning a 5-2 victory Wednesday night over NCAA Division III foe Anderson University (Ind.) inside the Howard County Indoor Tennis Center.

With the win, the Cougars improve to 4-4 overall under the veteran leadership of Head Coach Kristine Miller and Assistant Coach Andrea Saylor.

Coach Miller had this to say in regards to Wednesday night's win: "This start to the spring season is a testament to all of the hard work in the offseason that we put in. We've had a couple really close matches that could have gone either way, and I personally believe that if we would not have worked as hard in the gym and on the tennis court in the offseason, the results could've been different."

Doubles Courts:
The Cougars took care of business on all three doubles courts to take the doubles point, dropping just six total games between the three sets played.

Ava Allen/Reiley Hiser won 6-2 at #1 doubles, Chloe Schmidt/Kennedy Perrin won 6-1 at #2 doubles, and Graciella Solis/Mia Federspill won 6-3 at #3 doubles.

Singles Courts:
IU Kokomo carried much of the momentum over from doubles to singles action, winning four of the six singles points, including three in straight sets.

Ava Allen and Mia Federspill each cruised to wins at #1 and #5 singles respectively, as Allen won 6-2, 6-2 and Federspill won 6-1, 6-3.

Marion HS product Graciella Solis emerged victorious once again at #6 singles, claiming a 6-3, 6-4 win.

Anderson's lone two wins on the night came at #3 and #4 singles, with both going the Ravens way in straight-sets.

The only three-setter of the night came at #2 singles, where IU Kokomo's Reiley Hiser outlasted Anderson's Ella Frantz 7-5, 6-7 (4), 10-8 to make it a 5-2 victory for the Cougars.

IU Kokomo will return to action this Friday and Saturday with a pair of road matches. The Cougars will battle Saint Mary's College Friday at 1:30 PM in South Bend and Calvin University Saturday at 1:00 PM across the border in Grand Rapids.
